The Optician/Eyewear Specialist is responsible for delivering key results. Leadership competencies such as Patient Care, Drive for Results, Foster Teamwork, and Critical Thinking will deliver successful top line results and profit management. Exceptional organizational skills are required for success in this role, in addition to collaboration with the doctor and staff.

Position Summary

  • Report directly to Dr. Jennifer Wood, working together to anticipate patient needs and be able to effectively meet those needs with the appropriate lens and frame solutions.
  • Educating each patient on the technologies and innovations available in spectacle frames, lenses, and sun wear and their benefits in providing the optimal visual experience and preventative care.
  • Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, and execute these details with flawless accuracy.
  • Organizing, and maintaining/managing a perpetual inventory of around 1,000 frames, cases, and other spectacle accessories.
  • Using our electronic practice management system to enter orders for frames and spectacle lenses with accuracy and creating patient invoices for sales.
  • Manually adjusting the fit of spectacle frames to one’s face to optimize comfort and visual performance.
  • Troubleshooting patient concerns with the fit and performance of their eyewear to ensure patient satisfaction.
  • Meet customer satisfaction goals; effectively resolve customer concerns and complaints.
  • Scheduling appointments and answering office phones when necessary.
  • Ensure accurate pricing and calculations for all patient eyewear needs.
  • Meeting with representatives from frame manufacturers and selecting new inventory.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of all optometric equipment and instrumentation.
  • Maintain merchandise displays in a clean and attractive fashion. Comply with lens and price changes promptly and accurately. Recommend changes in inventory to respond to industry technical and fashion trends.
  • Protect all Company assets, including inventory, cash, credit card drafts, bank deposits, and equipment. Follow proper procedures when accepting checks and credit cards.
  • Goal and solution oriented and able to self-manage complex tasks.
  • Flexible and composed in a fast paced and ever-changing environment.
  • Implementation and leadership of managed care coverage and medical insurance claims processing.
  • Ensure adherence to all policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of Optician/Eyewear Specialist experience.
  • At least 2 years of Optician/Eyewear Specialist experience.
  • Developed communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledge of optical industry lens, frame, insurance, and problem-solving principles.
  • Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience with POS transactions
  • Familiarity with inventory procedures
  • Solid communication and people skills
  • A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus
  • Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 to 8 years of related work experience is preferred.
  • ABO Certification

Education

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • The tasks of this position generally require duties to be performed by: Use of close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly stand/walk for the duration of shift..
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, climb, or balance..
  • Coordinated use of hands and fingers to grasp, feel objects, transfer small items from one hand to another, fine manipulation, and bilateral reach with arms..

  • Must always adhere to safe work practices and report any unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Follow all personal dress requirements according to the established dress code and safety requirements.

Compensation
Full Time: $17.00-$21.00 per hour based on experience
