Special Needs
Special needs exams require specialized approaches.
Dr. Wood is a mom to three boys, two of whom have communication disorders. She understands that patients with special needs can often be apprehensive, exhibit unusual behaviors and/or become easily upset. As such, special needs exams are offered with specialized approaches to make the visit as productive and stress free as possible.
Dr. Wood builds rapport with your child and helps them feel comfortable. If patients have trouble concentrating, we take a break and often play with toys to maintain a positive experience. We co-manage with other providers, such as occupational therapists and speech therapists, and refer to other specialists, as appropriate.
